What was the Problem?
Before JDBC, ODBC API is used to connect DB to java code. The problem is it is written in c language so it is unsecured and platform dependent.
That is why java introduced own JDBC API.

Java Database Connectivity
JDBC is an API. It is useful to Connect the Relational Database to Java Application and manage the queries. we can perform CRUD(create, retrieve, update and delete) and other operations also on the database using this API.

JDBC Drivers are used internally by JDBC API. There are 4 types of Drivers.
- JDBC-ODBC Bridge Driver
- Native Driver
- Network Protocol Driver
- Thin Driver
The latest version of the JDBC is 4.3.
java.sql package contains interfaces and classes for JDBC API.it includes
- Driver Interface
- Connection Interface
- Statement interface
- PreparedStatement interface
- ResultSet interface
- DriverManager class
These interfaces and class are very important.
